Stanley,15 (Haiti)

I was born in the city Port Au Prince of Haiti I went to school that name IMMA, that school was a great school, I learned a lot in the classroom I played with my friends. My school was big and it has a lot of students, the school was far to my house so everyday I had to woke up at 4am because the school started at 7:30am and I had to braids my hair and I had to take shower and eat  and I had to brush my tooth after finished.

Haiti is near to Dominican Republic , The Republic of Haiti is a caribbean country. The continent is north america.

In Haiti i was living in the city of Port au prince, In my home in haiti was really big, It has two floor and all of my family live near to us,some of my family came to live with us. In my family I’m in the middle of my father sides ,but I am the only child of my mother. I have two older brothers and one older sister and I have one small sister from my dad sides ,because I  have a stepmother, When I was a little kid like 3 years old my father and my mother get divorce. so it was so difficult for me to know my brothers and sisters.

            When I was coming to the united states ,My dad took me to my auntie house because the airport was too far from where I was living In haiti and when I get to my auntie house I was so sad because I’ve missed all my friends and my family and my auntie in my uncle was so happy to see me, But I was still sad though and I went to the bathroom in brush my tooth in went take shower then I went to sleep and tomorrow morning I woke up , take shower do everything then, I went to eat after that I said bye to everybody and they said to me goodtrip. Then my dad called me and said lets go, I went inside the car and put my sit bell  and we go to the airport in Haiti.

When I get to the airport I saw my mom was waiting for me because I had to saw her before I went to New york, then I hug her then I said goodbye.

Me and my dad went inside the airport and we waited a lot before the airplane came.

When the airplane came we went inside then I sat down and I looked out of the window and I put my head down because I wanted to sleep.

When I woke up they gave me a food but I didn’t ate it because I do not like airplane food. I was looking out of the window and I took a book in my language in read it while I was reading I felt a sleep and my dad woke me up when the airplane was at Kenny airport and he told me we in kennedy airport ,I was so excited because I felt really strange and I didn’t know anyone. The only person that I knew before was my grandma.

while I was looking at the country my uncle came to get us at the kennedy airport.    when I get to the car, I  said to my uncle good afternoon ,then he said it back to me, while my uncle was driving we were talking and having fun and then I looked out of the window car ,I saw a lot of strange things for me. When I get home in New york,all my family was happy to saw me even though I didn’t know them, Specially my grandma she was really happy, and when I get inside the house I was suprised to see my little cousin in my aunt.

My dad told me to try hard to spoke english. and my dad is a really working hard man,and his tall. My dad came to the united states with me because he wanted to me to spoke english and have a good education for myself.

I came to the united states when I was 12 years old, When i came my family started talking which school should I go to. And tomorrow morning I woke up and they told me that they going to look for a new school for me. And when we got to the new school, the name was P.S 189, and my family kept talking with them and they told my family that theres no place to put me in. So we looked for another school and that school they gave me a quiz about math and I passed  it and they told my family I could be in that school.

The school name was M.S 61 it was a middle school and when day was arrived for me to go to school I was really excited and when I get to the school, there was a lot of students and there was a lot of students that spake the same language as me.

My family was looking around for my class they couldn’t found it, there was a girl name Melissa when she saw us she ask us what we looking for, my grandma told her that we can’t found the class that I supposed to be and my grandma gave the paper that name the room that I should be and the room was 814 and she told my grandma that me and her are in same class. I went inside the class with her and she told the teachers that I don’t spoke english.

and she helped me to spoke english and when the bell rang she went to second floor with me to the teachers ESL, the teacher gave a me a book to worked at home and that i was my homework to do at home.

I stay to the second floor for one period because the teachers was teaching me some english and when the bell rang I went to the cafeteria because 3rd period we have to go ate.

When I get there I was really shy because I was new students and I didn’t know anybody, so I didn’t go to ate I stay sat on the chair, and melissa came to me in said “why you not eating” I said because I’m shy of everybody. When it was time to go to class I went to another class in sat and the teachers ask me, what’s my name i told him my name is stanley. And the teacher was from Haiti, and he said to the class something, in I didn’t understand what he said ,and he came to me in explain in creole he  said to me we are going to start a new project.

The teachers started talking to us about the new project.The class was science and i was so shock because I didn’t know what to do and i didn’t like the class,so i tried my best to understand. When he kept talking to the class ,while he was talking melissa was explained me.

When I first came to the school the first class that I had was ELA and I didn’t understand what  the teachers was saying, Melissa came to me in said, that teachers is hard so I will explain you everything the teachers said, I think melissa was a good friend for me and  she’s from same country as me.

She’s a good girl and helpful and she explain people who does not understand what their doing.when I first saw her and my family she helped us found the room that we were going and me and her was in the same class because all haitians people supposed to be in same class and when we get there she told me to listened to the teachers when shes talking.

When I started to know the school better like started to spoke better english and i was trying to get myself graduated in the school. I went to ESL in tried hard to spoke english and to know what i was doing and to make my family really proud of me.I wasn’t able to spoke english easier like everybody else because I didn’t know what to do. And while I was in summer I was trying really hard to spoke english before I graduated in M.S. 61.

After summer I went to the same school that name M.S.61, when I get to the school I was able to spoke english a little bit because I didn’t know a lot, I tried my best to spoke some. And the teachers was really proud of me because while I was in summer i was practicing english and when I was study the teachers called my family and to9ld them that I didn’t have to take the ELA regents exams because I just came from haiti and I didn’t know really what ELA exams is. So the teachers told me that kept trying hard even though I didn’t took the ELA exams. When the students was taking the exams I felt weird because I know in America if you don’t take ELA regents,you cannot go to college because you need more credits. so I was worried and when the date of the exams was finish. The teachers told us that to prepared to graduate, So I told my family that and they said to me ,” when you graduated in america , to go to High school you have to be intelligent, and you have to speak little english, So you can understand what the teachers are saying and I said OKAY.

When I went back to school,I was really working hard because I really wanted to go to high school. But  they send a paper to my family that said we are going to take pictures school yearbook.And my family told me that and they asked me if I want to take pictures, I said to them if that okay with you guys, I’m in and they told me, Next monday be prepared to take photo. When the monday arrived I put my good uniform to me and went to school. When I get there, they made us went to auditorium and they called one by one. When they called on me, I was so nervous in shy,and I went to take the photo. When we finished we went back to class and it was almost time to go,So I waited for 5 minutes, After I went home. And they told us that, we had to bought the graduation dress. and my family knew that before me and they gave me the money,Then I gave it to the council principal and they gave me the dress and the next day I came with the dress to school because they told us to came with it so we can took photo while the dress was on us. And we had like one more week for graduation.

When the day of the graduation was arrived I was really excited and my family prepared good things for me.I cut my hair and bought good clothes. and tomorrow morning I woke up and I started praying because I know everything you are going to do,god has to be here.And I went to take shower, and I brush my tooth and when I finished I put my clothes on and then I waited for my family. When they finished, we took my uncles car then we went to brooklyn college because the graduation it was in brooklyn college they were doing it.

We went inside brooklyn college then separate because the students who was graduated had to be in the front and they had to be separate with their family. The principal went on the stage in talking and then when she finished, two of the students went to talk about their life. And then they finished give us a paper that wrote our name and we graduated. When I finished graduated, My family was really proud of me. And when I got home my family and my cousins suprised me everything I was really happy. And they told me that we going to a trip, My grandma said ok and they we had to pay 400 dollars. And  We said ok.  we payed them 400  dollars,Then on next week the students who were graduated and payed went to a trip in washington D.C.

When we get to washington d.c,it was so fun and we did five days in there, then on friday we went to six flags, after we went home, then our family came to get us. When I get home I was so tired and I went to sleep for the next morning,Then my family told me the high school that   I’m going to was IHSL then I said ok. They told me that i had to go to summer school, I said why they said because I have to learn something I didn’t know.

When I went to summer school I learned a lot of english,we worked hard to know english and then while we was in summer school we went to trip and the teachers was amazing and we went to statue liberty.When summer school was over, Me and my family went to beach.

then I went to school in october 10 2013, When I get to the school I was shy but I see students that are my level and I put my bag in the scan and then I went to sat in the school lunch table and there was a girl name Julie she asked me, if I’m in IHSL I said yes and we sat together then I saw a tall guy came to the lunch when he came he put the number of our classes.

We went to class numbers when I get in the class I was nervous and then we started working after the times up I went to the other class and I had a lot of fun.
