Sky’s Memoir

Age 14, China

      

      My name is Sky. I’m from China. In 2013 I got my green card so my father started to decided when we going to America. My grandma and my aunt are living in New York, so they want us to come too. I was excited to go to New York that quickly but I also felt sad. I’ll left my friends and my relatives. I picked up all my favorite clothes and dolls. Then I went to airport with my family  on January 18th. This was my first time to go in the airport. It’s big  and fancy. I felt nervous to show my ID and going in the airplane. I thought that we’ll started a new life in America, and I will meet many new friends and teachers, I’m happy to meet them.

     On the airplane, I felt very excited. It’s hard to slept, I only slept couple hours during the 18 hours travel. I was so excited to see outside of the window, but it’s all white , it’s all clouds. My father told me: “ After we get to America you have to learn harder than before, you have to know how to speak english very soon so you can get a good job for it.” When we were on the top of the New York I saw a lot yellow, white bright light , It’s was so beautiful. When we arrived to the New York, it was snowing outside. I was so excited because it was my first time to see snow, and it looked like little bubbles floating in the air. I played snow with my brother, we had a lot of fun with it. In the past I only can see the snow on the TV show, my country do have snow but only in some city which is live in the north. I’m from the city Guangzhou, it in the south of my country. that’s why I can’t see. Then me , my father and my brothers were going to live in my aunt’s house. Everything was setting up, but my brother was too naughty in the school, so he bring my brother back to the china and he made a parole for him. When he went back, I moved to my grandma’s home. Then I went to the middle school which is near to my grandma’s home for my entire half 7th grade.

     My middle school is called “ Ditmas Is62 Middle School.” I met a lot friends in this schol. But I still didn’t understand that much English to speak with my friends. And my team only had one chinese girl, her name is Jing, she helped me a lot in the school, so my english got better by days.I spended only half a year, I can speak with my friends goodly and also can make some jokes. I love to play snow with my friends after school, it’s fun.

      I worked hard at school, I always got high grades on my report card, and I had alo school time during 8th grade. On that time only me and my grandma lived together, my family all in China, so I’m just so bored. Then I decided to go to after school for better grade also for fun. After after school I always go to the park with Jing, sometimes I went library to work with my homeworks. The new teachers in 8th grade are funny,  and they have their own special way to teach the student. Such as Mr.Vee, he is a funny science teacher, I love him so much and I work really hard at his class so my every grade is 100, I feel good in his class. Then I graduated and I got alot awards.             

   Then I went to Brooklyn International High School. I met a lot new friends. I felt nervous in the beginning. Everything for me is new and strange.  I’m in a team which is called “ Breaking Barriers.’’ I love the classes and also the teachers. Specially my english teacher------Ben. I like the way he talk and jokes. All things going well in me high school. I also joined in a class which I’m interesting in which is processing. It’s a computer class, and I think it’s helpful for me and I learned a lot in that class. And I also like our lunch lady, her name is Marge, she and me are very good friend. We were always chatting during lunch. She is very kind. The one thing that I like is the most about this high school is that the student can carry their own computer during every classes. It’s good because we can use less paper and I love computer. Then my dad came, he came to see me for 1 month , and he found my high school is little far from my grandma’s home , so he changed for me. Then I going to International high school at Lafayette.

         Now, I am going to a new high school to change an new environment to study, and I don’t have to wake so early. In this new school, the teachers and students are very kind, and I also made many chinese friends. I felt happy because my middle school only have several chinese. I feel fun and excited to speak my own language to them. And my family will come to New York very soon. I’m so excited to see them, because I miss them so much.
