In this project, we have created our personal memoirs in both English and our native languages. To share our work, we have uploaded a written and oral version so that many people can enjoy our work!

The work presented is still in draft form, and we will continue to improve the quality of our work through the feedback and questions provided by readers/listeners! Please comment with compliments, suggestions and questions for us.

336 Hidan (Guatemala, Age 18): English

My name is Hidan I’m 18 ago  come from Guatemala I was born in Guatemala in at Departament called Totonicapan. Guatemala is a nice place have places cutes, I lived with my mom, my older sister and my young brother too, the village when we lived with some good neighbors and bad neighbors The school where I studied I near where we lived as a 6 blocks began to study in the morning to 1:30 and after school sometimes we would play soccer sometimes just spending some time in the park and sometimes we escaping courses with my friend for go to play soccer almost of the time was late at home when arrived at home sometime to playing video game or just dinner and sometimes I worked and I thought I’d come here in united states and I talk with my dad if he wanted and he told me that yes and I  talk with the coyote he said of course he said that need $5,000 dollars and told us when we were going out one day monday in the morning around  9:30 or 10:00 I do not remember well, and when arrive the day comes we get to that place come two other guys  and the Coyote we take a bus to reach the border of Guatemala with Mexico a place named Talisman arrived to hotel in this place as 2:30 we were only one Day and the next day we cross a river that was there and we had to cross three warehouse where the Federal and soldier were remember that we took us almost a day after to cross warehouse take a bus to reach Chiapas Mexico when we get there it was very hot and that place we stayed a week after that week we went there we took another bus that goes to Puebla in a hotel we stayed in this hotel one day and the next day in the morning we had to take another bus to get to Reynosa and we left at about four o'clock in the morning we took one day to get to this place called Reynosa when we arrived at this place we were taken to a house that was two stories, and there were other person were many and there were more than a month for me it was tough because can not spend days doing nothing or leave an outside while just being inside all day, and when that month we took at around 11:00 pm to crusaramos place called macali and first cross a river with a small boats after crossing the river we crossed a farm across the farm and migration and captured us there waiting and searched us and took us where I think the base was and they asked us what country we were and fill some leaves and then took me to a cell where they were only children spent a day there and the next day to take me to another place there I was one day over there at evening they took us to a bus to taking a bath and they told  us to change our clothes we had and in the morning we took at the airport and at four in the morning and then not know where we were going to take but what had in mind is that we were back in Guatemala but when they told that  we were going to fly to new york I felt happy in that moment when we told that flew as four hours when we landed at the airport here we left the plane and got on a bus and man went up and told us his name was called David gave us no food all They took us to a house under whose name Lincoll Hall and in this place I've spent a month with five days and this place had many houses and the house where I was in a house called cresst in that house were like 23 person there we were treated well they put out to play soccer in the morning at noon lunch and sometimes after playing ping pong and so passing day who looked after us in that house were. God bless everyone who looked after us and also the teachers who had already had many friends and we get along all and when I left there and missed all comrades who looked after us because I had already used one day I left wednesday Morning brought me by car think we took an hour to get here when I saw my brother very happy I felt an emotion happy I can not describe my brother was happy too, and the next day went for a walk in Manhattan and buy clothes all and I am grateful very grateful to the to spend a week living here and told him I wanted to work but told me and told me he was going to send to school I told him I did not want to work and I was working a few months but but insisted I had to learn English to study all good I told him okay and now I'm studying and everything is fine, thank God I have good friends all going great and I have to try harder to learn more to help new students and it is this My immigrant story :)
